Description

This is a project to develop a new website for the tour operator Costa Rica Hidden Treasures. Work will be done to create from scratch an adaptable web page for desktop and mobile built with WordPress, which will be of use for potential clients, as well as current clients of the company. The design will follow their new corporate image , as well as on feedback provided by the client regarding design and structure.

The page will include information about the company, services, photographs, and material of interest in tourism in Costa Rica, as well as a self-managing section of blogs where the client can constantly include information of interest.

The current client’s page was created several years ago by a third party and has received little maintenance during this time, also access was restricted and the client couldn’t make any changes to it.

Recently the company has redesigned its corporate image and for this reason, the client has decided to start from scratch and create a new web page that suits their needs, including sections that their current page does not have.

Additionally, the client wants to have a blog and a CMS through which they can internally manage the website.

Summary

Feedback is obtained from the client, who raises the design and navigation needs to create a friendlier page that reflects the new corporate image. Through video calls, the client contributes ideas of the sections that he wishes to include in the page, as well as providing the material to be used in it.

As per the client’s request, the discovery process was made based on interviews we made directly with them and not from third parties so no feedback was collected from other users.

Task and Solutions

Final Thoughs

Even though I have been working on web design for several years now, this project was very challenging as this was the first time I’ve made a full UX/UI study prior to the development of the website.

I worked on this project while I was completing an UX/UI certification, so I applied most of the knowledge acquired during the course on this project.

I learned a lot working on this project and it helps me to develop my own process for all the upcoming projects.

As I was in charge of the whole process from the beginning to the end, some steps and designs were missed (especially during the prototype phase) however it could be fully designed for any external developer.

The client was very happy with the results and the feedback received was that it fully exceeded their expectations. Now they are glad to have have a modern, fresh website that will help in their relationship with their own clients.
